The establishment of Pondok Pesantren Modern al-Amanah is a form of idealism from its founder, KH. Nurcholis Misbah. In its history, before the establishment of Modern Pesantren Al-Amanah in Junwangi Krian, KH. Nurcholis Misbah has tried to establish an Islamic center in Mojosantren, a village not far from the village of Junwangi. This is not apart from the journey of his life who had lived his life in Mojosantren.
Then after the various activities had been done well, he began to gather community leaders to convey his idea of establishing the Islamic Development Center. The idea received tremendous acclaim, both from youth, elders and entrepreneurs. In a short time the religious atmosphere in the village Mojosantren began to feel. Construction of the planned building also began to be realized, donations from community leaders began to flow smoothly and within a short time the construction of the first floor building was almost complete. But unexpectedly, there are different ways in building and floating the Islamic Development Center. So there was a misunderstanding that caused some people angry and decided support until the building can not continue. Then in 1987, he decided to move and start looking for a new place that can accept his ideas. From some of the villages he saw, which according to him was suitable is the village of Junwangi. It's about 1 km from the village of Mojosantren. In the village of Junwangi he and his family memenpati rented house is quite simple. His failure in the Mojosantren provided a valuable lesson for him. So to realize his idealism, he uses a different way from the way he has applied before.
The establishment of Pondok Pesantren Modern Al-Amanah is characterized by the holding of a public recitation as a symbol of inauguration. At that time he brought Ibu Uci Nurul Hidayati (Pasuruan) and KH. Sholeh Qosim (Sepanjang) as a speaker. The recitation went well. This became a new chapter in the effort to create a boarding school.13 As time went by, the number of santri grew and one, two began to come from outside the village. Then in 1993, there were two santri from a neighboring village who lived and lived in a hut.14 Meanwhile, to formulate the pesantren character he pioneered, he visited many pesantren to determine the form of pesantren he would build. Of the many pesantren he had visited, he finally decided to focus on modern pesantren. Modern in this sense means that the pesantren he founded is a pesantren that way of thinking more open and more receptive to something new.
In addition, the reason he chose the form of modern pesantren because in the area of sidoarjo at that time lack of competition, so more opportunities to be developed rapidly.15 This is evident from the number of santri who grew up years later also increased santri the mondok. Until now the santri who mukim reach ± 1500 santri. With all his efforts and efforts, he now manages to realize his noble and extraordinary ideals

A. KH. Nurcholis Misbah
Nurcholis Misbah or better known as "Cak Nur" was born on 15 August 1959 in Sumbersari, Kediri. His father was named Misbah. Initially his name was only Nurcholis which means a clean light. However, because of the many people who also use the name, finally to distinguish him put his father's name behind his name.16 As a child, he lived with his three brothers and his parents. Living within the limits of the economy, makes him learn to work hard. He spent his childhood in Kediri, while there he was educated in Primary School Kedungsari. Then at night, he learned to study disebuah mosque near his house, the mosque of Kyai Mughni. There he learned about Arabic letters, how to read and write al-Qur 'an correctly, tajwid and prayer readings. All of his lessons follow well, but only one lesson he can hardly follow is rote. Since he can not memorize the qunut prayer, he must descend the level, again following the ngaji from the beginning again. Then because of embarrassment and bored eventually he moved Ngaji to the mosque gupit, the place is quite far from home, located at the end of the village. Then after graduating from elementary school, he moved to Jombang.There he lived in a village surrounded by a pesantren, to the east there is Darul Ulum Rejoso, to the west there is Mambaul Ulum Den Anyar, to the north there is Rice Pond and in the south there is Tebuireng.
During his four years living in Jombang, he attended the Religious Teacher Education (PGA) of North Kauman and in the afternoon went to study at Madrasah Diniyah Tambak Rice. There he studied Fiqh (Fathul Qorib), Nahwu (Imrithi) and History (Khulasoh Nurul Yaqin). Then he entered a pesantren in Kediri, the Pesantren al-Hikmah, Purwoasri. At first he was unfamiliar with the life of a santri. As a santri he includes a naughty child, rarely follow the ngaji, often scolded kyai, and like fighting. For two and a half years he spent his time to queue there. Then after graduation, he went to Yogyakarta. Approximately about 5 years he lived in Yogyakarta. But unfortunately he did not go to college bench finished. He is more active in his home village than on campus. His thrilling experience and long stay in the pesantren encouraged him to build a dream pesantren. 2) His role in the development of Modern Boarding School Al-Amanah KH. Nurcholis Misbah is founder of Al-Amanah Modern Boarding School. His status as a kiai is highly respected and respected by his santri. Kiai is a figure who acts as a filter of information in spurring changes within the boarding school and community.
